Elva Lin

Originally from Taiwan, I moved to Shanghai where I completed my elementary school to high school. Thereafter, I moved to Gainesville, Florida to complete my B.S. in Applied Physiology and Kinesiology at University of Florida, where I discovered the career in Occupational Therapy.  As a third year doctorate student at Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine, I had the opportunity to learn under Dr. Jessica Kersey in the Social Health and Participation Laboratory about how OT's can support policy change in conducting data analysis and visualization for the Missouri Helmet Law Coalition to reduce the incidence of brain injuries and deaths. I also had the chance to learn under Dr. Kelly Harris as a Graduate Assistant in the Health Equity, Opportunity & Education Laboratory to conduct health related research in screening and social media contents to spread awareness in Asthma and Sickle Cell disease in underresource resource pediatric.  ​ I have developed a passion for working with neurologically and hand involved client populations in the outpatient settings. I love to travel and try different cuisines. I love spending time fostering animals and play around with new technology. I am committed to seeking opportunities to learn about new skills, cultures, and the lived experiences of others so that I can promote excellence in all areas of my life.
